A soft fork in the context of this website is a proposed change to bitcoin that contains one or more backward compatible consensus changes, which are also known as components on this website. We err on the side of having more soft forks listed than fewer, as long as they have been proposed in good faith.
The title of the soft fork, as given by the relevant BIP, or as it is known colloquially if there is no BIP yet.
The canonical website with information about the soft fork, usually created by the author(s) of the soft fork. If there is no “canonical” website, then we either list the next best thing e.g. a blog post written by an authoritative source, or leave this blank.
The number(s) and link(s) for any BIP(s) associated with the soft fork, or a link to the “TBD” draft BIP if the BIP does not have a number yet. Individual components of a soft fork may have their own BIP numbers, and a proposal that combines these components may also have its own BIP number. In such cases, we list all relevant BIPs.
The author(s) of the soft fork i.e. who originally proposed the soft fork, and/or is currently championing it.
